Love Canal Report - Matt Crowder

I posted an article about an oil spill that has happened in Arkansas and the Love Canal video on facebook.  I asked people the question: Based on the impact environmental tragedies affect you/your family how likely are you to take action against disasters like this one?

1) I feel that if my family was actually affected that I would likely take action.
2) I had family in Hurricane Katrina but was unable to help, if I can help at all I always try to help with disasters like this.
3) If my child was having problems because of known chemical waste I would be furious! I would take immediate action!
4) Depends on how much it is affecting my family.
5) Well I live in Provo now, so it would be hard to help my family in Virginia!
6) Very likely.
7) I’m not sure if my action would do anything to help?
8) I prefer to stay out of things like this.
9) I believe that I would take action if my family was being affected significantly.
10) I like to rely on people that are hired to do these jobs.

Do you believe that environmental crises affect you/your family today?
I believe that environmental crises do not affect my immediate family, only because we live in an area that is not very prone to environmental crises. I believe that my extended family is affected the most.  Some of my relatives are very poor and these crises can affect them very drastically.
Environmental tragedies still exist today; what can we do today to mitigate these problems.
I don’t believe there is anything that we as a population can do specifically to exactly prevent these problems.  I think that if people are actively serving their community that natural disasters or environmental tragedies will affect the community less.
In your opinion are environmental hazards something we should be concerned about on a daily basis.
I believe that in most places in the United States that we actually shouldn’t be concerned.  There are several places in the world where environmental hazards are happening and there should be more care sent to these places.  Of course the United States has had some trials but no where near as much as other places.
