1. The spill raised gas prices which affects me weekly.2. The Love Canal tragedy happed when I was a teenager and I remember the images vividly. While it did not affect me personally, I feel badly for all the people effected by the irresponsibility of the disposal of toxic chemicals which leached into peoples water supply. Many people suffered illness, death, and birth defects to children. The government created regulations in hope that we will not see another tragedy like this in the future.3. I know that the Gulf of Mexico oil spill is affecting all sorts of wildlife greatly which is concerning.4. A: I was aware of tragedies similar to this, but I was not aware of the magnitude and impact they have on the world. For example, though this occurred 3 years ago, the spill has not completely been recovered from and much of the wildlife has been affected and damaged. With the technology we have today, many do not realize how hard it is to recover from environmental tragedies such as the BP Oil Spill.
2. Q: Based on the impact environmental tragedies affect you/your family how likely are you to take action against disasters like this one?
A: Though there aren't too many ways we can help with the oil spill, there are many other disasters that occur such as hurricanes that leave people in poverty. We can help with this by sending humanitarian aid.
3. Q: How do environmental tragedies affect you on a
daily basis? Why should we care about them?
A: We should care about these tragedies because they can greatly affect the economy which impacts each of us on a daily basis. In fact, environmental tragedies typically put many out of work or homeless. We want to have strong efforts to take care of these situations.
