Bike Lane = Public Health

When I was thinking of all different forms of Public Health, bike lanes came to mind. Maybe because I am from Portland, Oregon and we are the bike capitol of America and have half of the road set aside for bikers, but none the less bike lanes is a way I would define Public Health. Bike lanes provide a safe place on the road specifically for bikers to ride with a decreased fear of being hit by a car. It also encourages alternative forms of transportation, which is not only good for the environment, but also for the personal health of the rider.
