Public Health Trends in Amador County, California

Amador County, California

In Amador County in California, the number of chlamydia cases is increasing. The department of public health is taking a number of measures to approach this issue. The first thing they are working on is community outreach. In conjunction with outreach, they are also working on prevention.  Hopefully by doing this the number of people with chlamydia will decrease.

It is flu season! The department of health in Amador County is very aware of this. In order to make the flu as little of a problem as possible, the department of health is administering flu immunizations. By promoting flu immunizations, hopefully less people will come down with the flu. Amador County is just one of the many places that are promoting flu shots.

One interesting program the department of health in Amador County is doing involves interns. Master students from UC Davis are the interns for this program. These interns are looking into providing access to dental care for people of all ages. This is a wonderful program that will benefit the community. By enabling all to have access to dental care, the health of the community will improve.

In Amador County, resources are limited for many people trying to get into basic primary health centers. This is not just in Amador County, but they are trying to face this problem. The department of health is trying to increase access to services in public health. The department of health is also trying to increase access to local providers to get into care. If they are able to do this, the community will certainly benefit.

New legislation passed concerning health care has affected the department of health in all areas. Amador County is conscious of this. Currently, they are trying to see how they fit into the new affordable health care act. They are trying to figure out their roles in the new health care system. It will be interesting to see how health departments adjust to new changes in the health care system.
