Porter Charles

I asked a Naturopath ,Dr. Jeffrey Wright, these question because I would like to go into that field.
The first trend that they see and what they focus on is the issues of Fatigue. It is very common and relates to the adrenal glands of the body. When your body gets stressed or pained it releases cortisol into the blood which keeps us up to beat. But many have been running on too much cortisol that they just feel horrible. So there are certain herbs, ginseng included, that have been proven to help decrease that.  Also keeping a continuous and balanced diet, and sleep
Another trend is allergies. Many people come in with allergies and the over the counter medicine isn’t working any more or not as well and they don’t like the side-effects. Eating differently can help for example there is a enzyme in pineapple that is anti-inflammatory. Acupuncture can take away the causes and effects of many allergies. Also simple lifestyle changes can help reduce allergies. ( on a side note personally I have seen this help me.)
One other trend is high blood pressure. The prevention was explained rather vaguely and irrelevant for must of those reading this paper. One way is to quit using tobacco. Another is to limit alcohol consumption to at least one drink per day and to reduce salt intake. The average American intakes twice as much sodium as they should per day.
Another important trend is that you maintain the thought of homeopathy. Each person gets treated like an individual. Each medicine can be different and specifically altered to the patients needs. This way of treating people is the worlds most common way especially not in the  United States. I thought this was interesting as it is not the most common in the U. S.
And lastly the trend that is called the trend of the season. Depression during the winter months. What people are told to do is to exercise. Also to not get too much sleep, maintain an active lifestyle. Eat fruits and in the morning try to get lots of light on you, so you can process the vitamin D in your system. All of these trends were very interesting and I hope to speak to more Naturopaths in the future.
