This is a 72-hour emergency preparedness kit. Public health focuses on risk reduction--having an emergency preparedness kit helps individuals protect their health when a disaster occurs. An emergency preparedness kit should have blankets in order to protect against hypothermia; it should contain a water filter to protect from waterborne illnesses and promote hydration; it should contain food to keep energy and nutrient levels up; it should contain propane to cook food at a certain temperature in order to prevent foodborne illnesses; and it should contain soap and changes of clothes in order to have a clean and disease-free environment.
